Retail Week Awards

Mothercare were nominated for The Community Retailer of the Year award at the Retail Week Awards 2019 ceremony

We attended the Retail Week Awards ceremony and it was amazing! Not only was the atmosphere fantastic but we were sitting amongst some amazing retailers such as The Entertainer, Ann Summers, ASOS, Tesco, Beaverbrooks and more…

Grosvenor House, London

A huge congratulations to our new partner, The Entertainer, who won The Best Small Retailer of the Year. The Entertainer have just bought Early Learning Centre from Mothercare and we are absolutely certain that the brand will flourish under their care.

Mothercare up for nomination

One very inspiring win was Ann Summers CEO, Jacqueline Gold, who won The Retail Activist Award. Her speech, totally uncensored, was about how she has always aimed to give women confidence in every aspect of life, in a very male dominated world.

Gold, who is mother to an eight year old daughter, said: “This is to the male board members who told me my business ideas were a waste of time, and who laughed them off…

“Not only should women of all generations feel confident at work but in the bedroom too.”

Representing Mothercare: Senior Press Officer Caroline Hesford, Regional Manager Dan Leuty, and Store Manager Louisa Johnson

There were several speeches throughout the night including one from ex MP, Ed Balls, who brought a lot of laughter to the room. The Strictly Come Dancing contestant said:

“Somebody told me how nice it was to see me as a REAL person outside of the House of Commons.

“I was however, in this very room a number of years ago attending an event as a member of parliament and was mistaken by a (new) journalist for Nick Griffin…

“I can’t tell you what will happen with Brexit, but I can say that with so many great retailers we should feel positive for the future of retail.”
